Albania Recieves EU Candidate Status

Trial opened against Gjika has been delayed


Vlora Mayor, Shpetim Gjika, along with gentian developer Sherifaj were the only of the eight defendants from Vlora, which came in front of the Court of Tirana, on behalf of the criminal trial that addresses the charges of document fraud and illegal construction.

Two of the defendants Eleni Dardhaj, worker of  Directorate for Territorial Planning and Gezim Feta prosecutors had issued to be represented by lawyers. While the other four codefendants were missing. Standed in this situation. The Judge Arben Micko counted the sheets sent to the charged to receive information.

Genci Çarçani Jailed!

Serious Crimes Court ruled in prison security measure for Genci Carçani​​, the man killed Saturday his ex-wife, Valbona.

Court sources said the man was silent while listening to the prosecution indictment claims for premeditated murder in the family.

Carçani was the first that opened the series of killing three women in two days that shook society. Both crimes were located in Tirana for two women victims, who had dared to denounce the police seeking protection orders. 

But lawyers and experts for the protection of women's organizations say that the Protection Order, should be revised to be more effective.

Justice people watch the changes of the Criminal Code for stricter punishment of violence as a crime deterrent, but have a wider coordination to prevent crime family.

Tirana is known as the city where there are many denunciations of violence against men's from women's. Within this year, the Court has recorded 360 requests for protection orders, but 200 of them were dismissed because women are attracted to the Court.

On the other hand the Tirana Prosecution states that are under investigation for the following 6 months, 90 folders on charges of domestic violence, in which 15 people are under arrest in prison and others to the extent of the obligation to display and house arrest.
