Albania Recieves EU Candidate Status

After many unsuccsessful tries, Albania recieved today the European Union Candidate Status. Three years after the murder of the four protesters

In commemoration of the third anniversary of the 21 January, the families of the four murdered protesters, for the first time entered the premises of the Prime Ministry building, where guards poured bullets towards their relatives.

In a short speech, Prime Minister Edi Rama, who initially said this on January 21 finds Albania differently.

"These stairs, the stairs of the Prime , aren't anymore the stairs that separated the people down the fence beyond the bars, with the Government above the fence behind bars. This building is not on the facade of firepower where barrels were weapons to shoot over people, on behalf of the government to steal, where the government is elected by the people working with people and for people, "said Rama.


Prime Rama issued strong criticism to the justice system, and called it a new hell for the Albanians.
Together, with the family of Alex Nica, Ziver Veizi Hekuran Dede and Faik Myrtaj Rama and hundreds of citizens are humble before their portraits, leaving flowers.

In memory of four innocent victims, in this third anniversary of bronze plaques are placed four in which the premier boulevard Rama described as a sign to all others, Albanians and other generations, who will go on the road and will 'touch the face of those signs, as the wounds of a past of not forgotten nor repeated again. 

Even this Jan. 21 has not been easy, not only for families, but for all those who were in three years ago boulevard as long as the Court of Appeal booked minimally Gardist Ndricim Llupo and Ndrea Prendi Guard commander, otherwise than requested Prosecution, the decision was not prompted little reaction and political controversy, but also frustration important embassies in the country. 


But can the families of the four victims expect justice from the Albanian justice? The process now awaits final word in court last it higher.

Rama: Justice will talk for Gjika

A day after the prosecution announced sending of the accused mayor of Vlora Shpetim Gjika that has been charged for abusing and issuing two building permits unlawfully, comes the first pronunciation of the Prime Minister Rama.

As Prime Minister of this country, I can only encourage the prosecution and justice do their job until the end and we can expect only justice last words!

Gjika is a friend, but also a senior political figure of the Socialist Party, on top of one of the most important cities of Albania. The Prosecution charges are too heavy and the facts alleged by the prosecution are extremely heavy. We all feel bad by their articulation and all want to hope that charges for an outrageous abuse like this do not exist. We will not become a political shield for any accused from prosecution for corruption and abuse of public office, never, "said Rama.

Prime Rama said Socialist parliamentary group that justice should do its job.

"We all feel obliged to 1 million Albanians who elected us to fight corruption at every level and party differences today to seek justice do its work until the end, without any political obstacle. There no doubt that our desire is to see Gjika free of these serious charges and we want to hope that the socialist mayor of Vlora will prove his innocence with credible arguments and evidence, "said Rama.

After this encouragement, that justice meet its mission, Edi Rama said he stood with Mr. Gjika in this situation.

"As a socialist and Rescue Gjika friend, I feel bad for him and in any situation will be humanely with him and his family, even though he has badly wrong, as prosecution claims. But, as chairman of the SP and as Prime Minister of this country, I can only encourage the prosecution and justice do their job until the end and we can only wait and hear justice policies and their last word, "said Rama.
