Diplomats: Finally free elections

Carola Müller-Holtkemper German ambassador in Tirana expressed very happy with parliamentary elections, when she declared that the Albanians finally managed to hold uncontested elections.

"After decades in which elections are contested, the Albanian people succeed. I think that the Albanian people should be proud of this achievement thereof. According to German observers, with whom I had a long conversation at the embassy after the election, spoke more positively to their development. So from the beginning I had to answer your question by saying that after a few decades, Albania held elections, which correspond to European and International standarts. With this achievement I think your way
to Europe is open. Now is the time to be naturally euphoric, which is what I understand as it is deserved. The future will not be easy, but my advice is: Be thankful to your programs, stand true renaissance and return to reality, "said Carola Müller-Holtkemper.

"Berisha accepted that the right coalition losed these elections, and this is an European behavior" said Holtkemper.

"It was a great relief after the tension had begun to grow. He came to declare victory and defeat his opposition Wednesday evening. But Monday was obvious that the camp and left can win situation took doses tension, after all wondering what will happen next. From past experience Albanians were concerned. The action of Mr. Berisha gave everyone the latest safety that Albania can behave like a normal European country, "said Carola Müller-Holtkemper.

German top diplomat, whose country will have a greater weight in the decision in December to Albania's status as a candidate country, which already claims three laws were adopted, standards were elections, the incumbent government and it's new Prime Minister Rama, should strengthen the fight against corruption and organized crime.

"Meeting of the Council of Ministers of the EU at the end of this year will look very favorable in these positive developments in Albania. Do not forget that Albania was asked to approve three laws that have already voted integration and imple introduced in September. Another requirement related to the elections, which went very well. There are two other issues related to the fight against corruption and organized crime. My understanding of the new Albanian government will deal with these issues. I followed with interest the statement of Prime Minister Sali Berisha, who said that his government should operate at full capacity. There are all possibilities until the end of December to build a Thracian-record in combating corruption and organized crime, "said German Ambassador.

Even the French Ambassador in Tirana, Mrs. Christine Moro gives a positive attitude about how the elections were held June 23.

"From the beginning I want to emphasize that the general elections went very well. Unfortunately there were some instances of violence and killing. It was a pleasure to see such a clear result including the statement of Prime Minister Sali Berisha, who knew the score. It's all very positive. I think we are at the beginning of a process that will continue throughout the summer. I am confident that everything will go gently. I hope so because Albanians have expressed their will, "said Mrs. Moro.
